Each product has its own soul and character. Cleaning and preserving clothes properly means we see them as an entity, have a better product experience and, more importantly, protect the environment.
1. Causes of Skin Explosion:
If your leather jacket has small blisters, it is caused by moisture.
The main reason is that leather is a layer of dead skin that has gone through the process of being processed to create the finished jacket.
With excessive humidity, the skin cannot evaporate completely and blisters appear. These blisters can cause the skin to peel off later.
</> Washing leather jackets incorrectly:
Washing leather jackets incorrectly is the most common reason for leather jackets to explode. Not knowing how to wash leather jackets properly and just washing them as usual has resulted in the leather jacket being damaged from shape to material.
"One of the top rules when washing a leather jacket is to not let it soak in water. When the leather absorbs too much water, it will soften, blister and peel."
2. How to Fix Cracked Leather Jacket:
Washing leather jackets incorrectly is the most common reason for leather jackets to explode. Not knowing how to wash leather jackets properly and just washing them as usual has resulted in the leather jacket being damaged from the shape to the material.
</> Using nail polish or shoe polish:
Use nail polish or polish to cover the crack. Be careful to choose the right color of nail polish and polish so as not to affect the aesthetics of the entire shirt.
After applying paint to the crack, wait for it to dry completely and then use Vaseline to wipe the surface of the jacket. The Vaseline layer helps to make the leather jacket surface shinier and hides some of the paint you just did.
3. How to Wash Leather Jackets Without Exploding:
Note that Leather Jackets should not be washed in a washing machine. In case the jacket is really dirty, please bring it to a professional laundry to have the product cleaned in the most appropriate way.
</> For Hand Wash:
- Step 1: Take a soft cotton towel , dip it in water and clean the entire leather jacket. This step is to gently clean dirt on the surface of the leather jacket.
- Step 2: If the leather jacket has stubborn stains such as grease or mold. You can take a little vinegar or a little common detergent mixed with a little warm water, then gently wipe the stained area until it is gone.
- Step 3: Polish the leather jacket again with polish, then dry it in a cool place, away from direct sunlight. When dry, store it in the closet.
</> For Machine Wash:
If you want to use "Machine wash", we recommend you take it to a professional laundry shop to clean the product most appropriately.
Limit "Machine Washing" at home. If you do machine wash at home, you need to pay attention to the following issues:
- Step 1: Before putting it in the washing machine, turn the leather jacket inside out and then put it in the washing machine and do not put the leather jacket with other clothes.
- Step 2: Start the washing machine and use cold water.
Note: Choose the medium or lowest wash mode. Absolutely do not use the extremely dry spin mode or hot water wash mode because it will cause the surface of the shirt to wrinkle.
- Step 3 : After washing, dry in a cool, dry place , away from direct sunlight. After the leather jacket is dry, you can polish the entire leather jacket with wax and then store it in the closet.
4. Some Notes for Long-Term Preservation of Leather Jackets:
- Avoid exposing leather jacket to water or rain.
- Limit washing clothes by machine, washing with many different types of clothes and washing in strong mode.
- Do not expose leather clothes to direct sunlight.
- Do not clean leather jackets with strong alcohol solutions or toxic chemicals.
- Hang and store the shirt in a cool place.
- Do not fold or crumple clothes when not in use.
- For leather products, you should limit constant contact with water and limit frequent washing because if you take too much care, the shirt will deteriorate faster. Please clean your leather shirt regularly.
- Do not wrap leather items in nylon or plastic, as leather needs to be kept ventilated.
